So last weekend I went with my dad to see the movie Inception! But first, we spent some time trying to figure out which theater to go to. He wanted to go to the supposed nice theater in the Renaissance Center. I never been there before and I hate having to drive and park downtown myself. Not only that, but you have to pay to park down there. Anyways, he chose that spot since it’s equal distance from our house.
Then I chose a nice theater, though not in a good neighborhood. I chose one in Detroit on 8mile lol. Then he said, that’s fine but the theater is underclass and there’s no where to eat. So, I thought of a theater in Madison Heights, which was of equal distance and had a bunch of places to eat. Finally, that decision made sense, so we went there.
Finally, when we got to the movie theater….we saw the movie. Inception was an awesome movie, dare I say better than the Matrix or any other movie with a semi-confusing plot. Technically, not confusing to me, but as in movies that are intentionally confusing
My favorite part of the movie was all of it. All of it! I don’t want to spoil the movie so I’ll post a funny picture pretty much explaining it all.
Inception!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yea, I’ll probably end up seeing it in the theater again. Oh and I’m assuming and hoping there will be a part 2 because the end of the movie kind of left it hanging when the spinning totem didn’t drop.
Anyways, so after the movie, we went to Olga’s which was in the mall unfortunately, instead of outside the mall like I had hoped. I personally hate malls, something about them I just can’t put my finger on it. Maybe the crowds of people wasting their money on useless and artificial items. Or the Kiosks which either are selling fattening but good looking foods or they are selling cheap clothes and belts and other crap at an unusually expensive price.
Anyways, when we got to Olga’s we talked about random things. About the movie which my dad also loved. Even our waitress stopped to talk about the movie with us. We also talked about me going to jury duty and my plans to prevent me from serving on a jury. Of course, he thinks my plans will fall through and he wants me to serve jury duty. I wasn’t surprised he’d want me to serve seeing as how he works in the military, a court, and is getting his third(?) masters degree, this time in Criminal Justice. Then we talked about work and school and how yes, I can afford it and how yes, I like my job but one guy is annoying. Well, not annoying, and it’s not his fault. He’s just been given an opportunity by one of the grad students which should have really been given to me since I actually done the work and he just picked midges out of a tank. But whatever, I’m actually over it, I’ll have other opportunities to show my awesomeness. Plus, in the end, I actually know how to do the two parts of the experiment off the top of my head.
Oh and work has been nice. I’ve learned to handle personalities better. I don’t get as easily distract by the WoW girl that yells things like “beer and titties” randomly throughout the lab. She’s actually one of my favorite people, though she still slightly makes me uncomfortable. But I’m typically an uncomfortable person during social interactions, so it’s no big deal. I have only confirmed that this is what I want to do. But in thinking about my future, I’m still very much interested in Marine Biology. I want to find a way to be able to work with both. I got a bit of taste this when first working on the quagga mussel project in our lab. Applying the same principals of marine mussels to those in lakes, figuring out if certain conditions work the same for lake species. Now that’s awesome. So, I’m kind of focusing on going to Portland, Oregon for my masters, but now I’m thinking it might actually be better to go there for a Phd. I haven’t decided yet, I’m still also interested in Colorado.
Anyways, so ater the movie and lunch with my dad, we went home and I told everyone on twitter how awesome Inception was lol. Well that’s it, now scurry along
Isn’t it an eastern philosophy that people actually never wakes up until they die. Was the movie about that??
I have no idea about eastern philosophy lol. I do know that in the movie, they wake up with they are dead except during the Inception process
Sound like a nice day with your dad ^_^! Oooh no spoilers please!! I still need to see it!
Man! Your dad has almost 3 degrees?!
Glad to hear work is still good and that it confirmed that it is what you want to do! Having more interests is good, but can complicate things when you have to make a decision. I hope you can combine them both! That would be awesome! Keep us posted!
Ciao!
yep, he has a degree architecture, business and political science. so I guess this means he’s working on his 4th degree. And thanks, I think I’ll wait til my phD before trying to do too much at one time. For my masters I’ll solely focus on lakes and stream systems.
