What A Surprise Fisheries are to Blame 4 Fish Decline

Wow, I would have never thought the fisheries could be the cause of fish decline.  Apparently this has been debated for a while now.  Science Daily reports that WWF and the Lenfest Ocean program put out scientific reports debunking the science behind the notion that whales not fisheries are causing the fish population decline.  Maybe I have just not been paying attention enough, but I didn’t even know this was being debated.  It seems obvious to me that fisheries would be the cause of fish decline.

Science Daily also says that the initial (incorrect) research proving that some how whales cause fish decline was a reason to prove that whaling is justifiable and thus whalers are just stabilizing the whale population.  I can’t believe that whoever did this fraudulent research on whales causing fish decline wasn’t fired.  A child even after watching that ridiculous Alaska Crab Fishing show on Discovery channel can tell you that fisheries are the cause of over fishing thus they decline fish populations. 

I’m just glad there are organizations out there like WWF and Lenfest Ocean to debunk these ridiculous articles that could somehow pass as scientific evidence.  There needs to be an end to whaling and no one should have an excuse for whaling.  The reason why fisheries feel the need to whale is because of over fishing which they caused.  If they weren’t over fishing then that would allow fish populations to spawn and thus increase and give fisheries a sustainable amount of fish to catch and them the cycle could continue.  Over fishing just means that less fish are going to be able to spawn thus less fish to catch over a particular amount of time.  It seems to me that the fisheries shot themselves in the foot with this one.  Whaling is not the cure for their wounds.  We need new ways of getting food that isn’t going to hurt our environment or animals and I hope we find it soon.  Click here to read the whole report on Science Daily.
